Customer The University of Applied Sciences of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI), is one of the nine universities officially recognized by the Swiss Confederation. It offers more than 30 academic programs both at bachelor and master’s level and it has a great concern on research
The project In the realization of the project, consisting in the development of the new institutional portal www.supsi.ch, special attention to the planning of structural aspects and website functions has been paid. In so doing, a consistent structure has been created, allowing a further articulation of the project in several other sub-projects, such as the realization of the academic departments’ websites.

Need SUPSI needed a reassessment of the main web portal and of its several sub-sites in order to allow a lighter, easier, more effective, and more flexible communication. The new portal is a tool useful not only for communicating on the web, but also for reaching various targets, in accordance to their specific needs.
Solution Tinext performed the following activities for Supsi:
- analysis of the actual portal aimed at the re-definition of the information architecture. The output of this analysis, which included both structural and functional aspects, has been the creation of a fully functional prototype that allowed the client to test the full set of functionalities still in the planning phase.
- configuration, development and personalization of the Web Content Management (WCM) System, based on Magnolia solutions
- integration with different legacy systems
- SUPSI staff’s training, which allows them to manage and update the portal in a completely independent way
- coordination of other partners involved and overall project management
- support for sub-projects’ priorities definition, organization and assignment of priority
Strenghts The design of the new SUPSI portal is strongly “user-centred”: the point of view of the different typologies of users has been taken into account in order to create an experience which matched customers’ needs and expectations. This is the reason why contents have been organized by target: information, services, functionalities and sub-sites are accessible and present pieces of content relevant to the users’ profiles.
